Drives well but plenty of problems

I bought this car relatively recently, but since buying it I have had a fair few problems. The car has done 95,000 miles so isn't a mega mileage example.
Faults I have had so far:
Cooling fans resistors broken (£400 for new fans) but an easy modification costing around £15 can restore operation. Details on Golf Forums.
Failed Lambda sensor
Mud collecting behind front wheel arch liners leading to rusty front wings
Leaking front dampers
Collapsed rear damper
Trailing arm bushes failed at rear
Bushes in front suspension arms failed.
Handbrake button rattles.
Coating on front armrests looks awful
Brake light bulbs always failing
Ratles and squeaks from dashboard.
Center armrest lid has broken
Alarm resetting itself when a door is not opened within a set time very annoying. When loading shopping for example.
Climatronic too low and dangerous to operate on the move.
Oil leak from ebtween engine and gearbox. Most likely timing chain housing.
"Mooing" noise whilst reversing due to rusty rear calipers. Ended up buying two new ones.
Whilst adjusting the driver seat there was a bang and a large spring fell off. Height adjustment now longer works correctly.
Drivers electric window failed, leading to the glass dropping down inside the door and not going back up. Ended up buying a new regulator from ebay and fitting it myself.
Air vents inside cabin have gone floppy and won't stay anywhere other than pointed downwards.
Both front suspension strut top mounts required replacing.
Exhaust rusted though at 12 years (not to bad to be fair)
Running problems due to split vacuum hoses in engine compartment.

I do like the way the car drives, it is comfortable and with new suspension components handles well, however if I wasn't a good DIY mechanic the car would have been uneconomical to keep on the road.

Since replaced with an Alfa Giulietta 2.0 JTDM, which has been perfectly reliable...
