Mercedes-Benz to celebrate 125 years of motorsport at Retro Classics
Published 23 January 2019
Mercedes will display cars from its motorsport past at this year's Retro Classics show. Visitors to this year's Stuttgart show will be able to see a wide range of highlights from the past 125 years.
The oldest car will be a 1894 model that completed the journey from Paris to Rouen, widely argued to be the first car ever race ever.
Also on show is the 1909 'Blitzen Benz' - which boasts the largest capacity engine ever used by the company. The 21.5-litre 200hp was good for 200km/h and was the fastest road car at the time.
But the displays that many are looking forward to seeing are the Formula 1 racing car W196 R (1955) and a GT racing car CLK-LM (1998).
