A Grand Monday: Renault 19 Cabriolet
Let's get one thing from clear from the outset - while this looks like a bright and usable car, it's not one you can jump in and drive straight away.
It is, however, an rare example of a rapidly disappearing modern classic. So rare, in fact, that the Renault Owners' Club believes there are fewer than ten examples of this particular model left.
So, if you fancy a very unusual modern classic, read on... Our pick of the classifieds this week is a 1993 Renault 19 Cabriolet, finished in distinctive Heather Purple pearlescent paint, with refurbished Speedline alloys and in overall good condition, but in need of some recommissioning.
It has been parked up for eight years, so a clean-up and overhaul to the brakes will be essential, along with a service and cambelt before it can be driven in anger. But on the plus side, the smart Karmann-styled body appears to be in good order, and and the interior is seemingly immaculate.
A weekend's work should see it through an MoT, and for that effort and just £800, owning a car as rare and distinctive as this, but one that is still perfectly usable as an every day car, sounds like a pretty decent deal to us...
