A Grand Monday: Tidy 1983 Honda Accord, £995
It’s not often that you see tidy examples of early-1980s Japanese classics on eBay, so we thought this 1983 Honda Accord for £995 was worth a closer look.
These second-generation Accords are fairly simple beasts (carbs, manual choke, minimal electrics), but so many of them fall foul of rust. Luckily, this one seems to be in pretty good condition.
They also tend to get looked after and cherished by caring owners – and this one is no different, coming with an extensive history file. Recent work includes a service (spark plugs, oil and filter). Plus it’s also had a reconditioned alternator, new water pump, clutch, as well as rear brakes shoes and cylinders.
Inside, the seller says it’s in good condition with dry carpets. He also adds that the radio is missing, but that he'll throw in a CD player. Outside, it certainly looks shiny but it still has some trouble spots. The roof and bonnet are a little fated, and the driver’s wheelarch has been touched up.
Still, with two former keepers, 111,000 miles on the clock, and an MoT until August it could be a lot worse. The car has also been in regular use – driving to and from work for the past six years.
