Bought from my son, I knew he has spent some money tidying it up and fitting leather seats so it was a no brainer to buy. Mechanically sound but bodywork has taken some damage with all wheel arches sc***ed and various dings. Alloys corroded and flaking. What drew me to the car was its indigo blue pearl paintwork (think this is the best colour), 204bhp and that lovely V6 sound on acceleration. Fuel consumption doesn't bother me as I'm retired and a low mileage driver. However I've been pleasantly surprised by its mpg as it's only 1 or 2 less than the MK3 cabrio just sold.
It's booked in end April for wheel refurbishment and (money allowing) bodywork attention in May. Having moved from a MK3 to a MK4 it's interesting to note the difference in build quality. The MK3 always felt a little flimsy and fragile whereas the MK4 is certainly more solidly built (love the blue instrument lights).

The after market stereo has gone in favour of the original Sony radio/6 cd auto changer. It suits the car so much better. I just love driving this and when the tyres need replacing I'm going for HJ's recommendation of Michelin Cross Climates. That and permanent 4wd should keep going through all weathers. I'll update as things progress.
