Overall reliability

A good car, well designed and built that does what we need.

We wanted a car for the next 10 years and the Toyota 10 year warranty (dealer serviced) fitted the bill. Toyota’s reputation for reliability was a big draw. Didn’t want a car that was too big or small and was comfortable. We didn’t want an electric car but a Full Hybrid seemed like a good idea to take us forward for the next decade. Toyota are the kings of Full Hybrid and Mild Hybrid didn’t seem to be one thing or the other.
The Yaris Cross Excel seemed to fit the bill and I liked the front and rear of the car (though they aren’t particularly complimentary to each other!) and had a light coloured headlining which we preferred to dark.
Two test drives later and an order was placed in December 2021 with collection in June 2022.
The eCVT power split differential is a wonder and drives well - a restful automatic. Brakes and steering very good, LED headlights terrific and all the safety systems work well and are reassuring. Fuel consumption is very good (genuine 58 mpg over 13000 miles) though would be easily better if I did more town work. Comfortable and roomy.
Ride could be a bit better if independent rear suspension was used instead of a torsion beam. Rear seats are fine though access could be a bit better and no idea why there isn’t an interior light. Boot good and roomy. A good car.
