Astounding value for the money
I could kick myself. Back in the 70's I owned three Lotus Elans, and over the following decades, needing bigger cars for a growing family, I must have spent many tens of thousands of pounds on various hot hatches and supercars looking in vain to recapture the Elan experience. Finally, I've come full circle and discovered the MX5. Well, I suppose I got there in the end, and what a superb destination it has proven to be.
For a measly £800 I've been lucky enough to recapture all the thrills of my Elan past (Elans now cost £20,000 - £30,000!) with, fingers crossed, none of the unreliability. Great fun to drive, cheap insurance, and low cost spares. What more could a petrol head want?
