A charming sports executive from a time when cars had souls

Quite simply a wonderful car. Sure, it's angular, it may be the least pretty XJ6 but you look at the lithe lines, the oppulence within, the power it has and then tell me what modern car, or any so called premium car in the last 20 years comes close. None.
If you have a motoring soul, if you truly appreciate class and style then you owe yourself a Jaguar XJ40. £2K buys the best, get a sovereign, turn your nose up at fuel consumption and waft your way to happiness.
Can't afford to run one? Do the maths. Over 5 years.
Jag - £2K to buy, £1K a year in maintenance, £700 in tax and insurance, £3,500 in petrol. In 3 years the car is worth maybe £1k. Over those years it has cost you £16,600.
Modern Focus - £16K new. £300 a year in maintenance, £500 in tax and insurance and £2,000 in petrol. £12,000 in depreciation, but add £2,000 in interest. So. The car owes you £18,000, is now worth £4,000, that's a loss of £14,000. Over 3 years it has cost £2,800 a year to run, so that's £8,400 over the same time. Total cost is £22,400. The Jag saves you £5,800!!!
Or just accept you want it! But, be wise to this, they do cost when they break. But they do not break often.
You will not regret it.
