Overall reliability

Cheap to run, very family practical, zero street cred and completely unsporty

We avg 6k miles a year and that is either 1-1.5hr motorway runs, or about town (1-3 miles a time). It as been fairly reliable, but niggles like failing door locks, unreliable remote locking and persistently squeaky brakes have let it down. Overall cant complain as it swallows me the wife and our 3 young children ok, also has a great boot for its relative demure dimensions. Also being five seater it works great for us and we dont get conned into giving everyone else lifts! The three seats in the back are full size so we can get 3 child chairs. Plus the flat floor between driver and passenger means you can walk (sort of) from front to back (altho i do not recommend this whilst driving ;-). I drive it carefully and the combined mpg is nearly 55mpg. That and <£200 insurance and <£150tax make it a pretty cheap car to run. We got ours new in the thinking we'd run it into the ground and that is still the plan. Based on experience thus far (4 years) it will last for a long while yet, whilst still accommodating the family (even if we need a roof top box). I dont enjoy driving it (although it is comfortable on long journeys, and has some mid range torque when needed) but i do enjoy its practicality and running costs. The engine is pretty refined (i once drove the non HDI diesel variant and it was truly awful by comparison).
