Low-mileage MG Metro Turbo for sale at £14,995
A low-mileage MG Metro Turbo is for sale at a classic car specialist for £14,995. The 1987 example has had only one owner from new and has clocked up just 15,000 miles. It is for sale at Northampton-based Autobarn.
The paint looks to be in good condition while the alloy wheels are unmarked. Inside, it’s like a new car with no sagging headlining or seat wear. It comes with a history file that includes the original bill of sale and book pack. The car still has its original supplying dealer numberplates, tax disc and rear window sticker.
Launched in 1982, the car was powered by a Lotus-tweaked version of the an uprated A-series engine and mated to a Garrett T3 turbocharger giving drivers 93bhp from that 1.3-litre engine. The result was a car that went well - and stopped even better, thanks to four-pot servo assisted brakes.
In truth, the engine could have probably delivered more power - but it was limited by the four-speed gearbox. The car's other limitation was poor build quality and rust. So to find an example that's not been thrashed or left to rot, explains the high price tag.
