McLaren’s supercar joins the classics at the Heritage Motor Centre
Visitors to the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon can now see the famous McLaren MP4-12C.
The MP4-12C was launched in 2011 and was McLaren's first production supercar since the F1 of the 1990s.
Using McLaren's extensive experience of Formula One technology, the 12C makes use of carbon fibre resulting in a lightweight car with a top speed of 207mph.
Finished in McLaren Orange, PP7 was the first MP4-12C to be tested by the world's press.
It also found fame by completing a lap of Top Gear's test track in the hands of The Stig in one minute 16.2 seconds, making it the fifth-fastest car of all time around the Dunsfold track.
This summer visitors can also enjoy a number of interactive family activities to help them explore the collection of more than 200 classic British cars.
Themed activities focussing around the Land Rover, Mini and Jaguar collections will keep children of all ages entertained.
Every day during the summer holidays (until 6 September) younger visitors can curate their own mini motor museum with a puzzle trail, designed to help them decide what cars would feature in their own motor museum.
Every Tuesday, children can get interactive with Lego Technics, racing them along the ‘Heritage Track’ with the fastest Lego Technic of the session winning the title ‘Champion’ as well as a prize.
And on Wednesdays, children can become an HMC apprentice building Lego vehicles and each Thursday they can get creative with family craft activities and build a vehicle to take home.
