Line up confirmed for Brighton Speed Trials
The line-up for this year’s Brighton Speed Trials has been confirmed and promises enthusiasts some spectacular high-speed action. The event, which takes place on Madeira Drive on Saturday, 2 September, will features vehicles from classic to modern.
Len Wooller, of the Brighton and Hove Motor Club that runs the event, said, ‘We have a terrific line-up for this year’s Speed Trials. It will be an action-packed day out for all the family. The line-up includes some stunning classic cars and bikes as well as some of the most modern racing engine technology.’
Cars in action include a 1930 Rolls Royce Phantom 2 Handlye Special powered by a 27-litre Rolls-Royce Merlin engine from a Spitfire. There’s also an Aston Martin DB2 1950 Team Car, a 1907 Wolseley-Siddeley Coppa Florio Racer with a 10-litre engine, and an AC Ace Bristol sports car from Brooklands.
Also returning is the Allard J2. Fitted with a 7.0-litre engine, this fast car has won the event on numerous occasions. Modern metal includes a McLaren 650 Spyder and a McLaren SLR, an all-electric Tesla SP85D, Noble M12 GTO 3R and a Ferrari 550 Maranello.
Around one hundred and fifty cars and seventy-five motorbikes are expected to participate in the action-packed seafront event. Tickets cost £15 on the gate or £12 in advance. Practice runs start at 08:45am, with timed runs start at 11.30am.
