Rare Alfa to headline Salon Prive concours

Published 28 July 2016

More than 65 rare cars will be on show at this year’s Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance. \Headlining the concours and lining up in the Pre-war Coachwork class is a unique 1924 Alfa Romeo RL Normale Coupé de Ville by Farré. This remarkable one-of-one car was delivered new to Barcelona, bodied in striking Caoba wood by celebrated European coachbuilder J Farré.

Another exceptional car confirmed for the concours competition is a recently restored 1956 Ferrari 500 TR ‘Testa Rossa’. Famed for its consecutive victories in the 1956 and 1957 Nassau Speed Weeks, the car has been in storage for more than 50 years. One of just eighteen examples, this model also finished second in its Class in the Cuban Gran Prix of 1957.

Also look out for the 1923 Voisin Type C6 Laboratoire. A rolling laboratory for Voisin’s experimental technology, this car’s aerodynamic, streamlined profile was inspired by the wing of an airplane.

With an ex-Works Porsche 911 Tour de France, which collected silverware at the 1970 race, and a late production Lamborghini Miura P400S confirmed as early entries, this year’s event promises to be the best yet. Tickets for Salon Privé 2016 are on sale now: www.salonpriveconcours.com
