November's Bristol resto show to be biggest yet
The organiser of the 14th Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show says this year’s show will be the biggest ever due to the soaring confidence of traders, restorers, autojumblers and exhibiting car clubs.
Organiser Nigel Stevens says that the surge in interest over the past six weeks means that they are adding an extra hall and reorganising the usual floorplan to accommodate everyone at the show, which takes place over the weekend of 1-2 November at the Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet.
‘The demand from everyone involved has been fantastic, so much so that we are enlarging the show to accommodate everyone.’ he says.
More than 5000 visitors are expected at the show. Now in its 14th year, it will feature more than 150 exhibitors, including classic car clubs, traders and autojumblers spread over four indoor arenas.
The owners’ clubs and restorers will host live displays and offer visitors expert restoration advice. The show also includes an auction, suppliers and autojumblers all offering a wealth of motoring gadgets and spares.
The themed club displays are a speciality of the show, and Nigel anticipates the usual high standard of entry this year, ‘Owners clubs are confirming their displays all the time, but the show already has confirmed entries for extensive restoration projects,’ he says.
‘Other car clubs will focus squarely on aspects of car restoration, be it engine or chassis, general overhaul or finishing touches, such as chrome work and polishing.’
Visitors can bring their own classic car to show off in the VIP viewing area, or buy a classic vehicle at an on-site auction, which is held on Sunday by leading classic vehicle auctioneer Charterhouse.
The 14th Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show will take place at the Royal Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, over the weekend of 1-2 November. Doors are open from 9.30am to 4pm on both days.
