‘Big screen’ theme for NEC show

Car clubs across the UK are busy planning their stands for this year’s biggest indoor classic vehicle event, following the announcement of ‘The Big Screen’ as the official club theme. Set to take place on November 14-16 at the NEC, Birmingham, the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show will feature a variety of iconic TV and movie star cars.
The show’s organisers are encouraging clubs to interpret the theme in their own way, and are expecting an abundance of famous posters, billboards and big screen campaigns as the backdrops to many of the stands. Some clubs might want to recreate a famous film poster, or maybe give their stand over to a TV show, film or even an advert that featured their particular cars. The idea is for each and every club to be as creative as possible.
Show sponsor Lancaster Insurance is a big fan of this year’s theme, according to a spokesman: “Lancaster Insurance was born in 1984, when great films likeBeverly Hills Cop,Indiana Jones and Ghostbusters were topping the billboards. To celebrate this milestone, it only seemed right that our stand should be inspired by the ’80s. We’re planning on taking visitors Back to the Future with some serious blasts from the past.”
The 2014 Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show will occupy eleven halls at the NEC, and will feature around 1700 classic vehicles, plus the usual array of trade and autojumble stands. Other show features include the Wheeler Dealer Live Stage, Restoration Theatre and Silverstone Auctions sale. Organisers hope to beat last year’s record attendance figure of 65,000 visitors to the show.
Tickets are on sale now, with prices starting at £18.50 for adults (or £9.50 for 5-16 year olds) when purchased in advance via the official website: www.necclassicmotorshow.com.
