Preview: Retro Racing at Castle Combe, 13-14 August
Get set for a two day race weekend at Castle Combe steeped in nostalgia with a full complement of races from the 'Classic Sports Car Club'.
Based in nearby Corsham, the club focuses on accessible racing for club enthusiasts, focusing its series on a 'retro' theme. Sunday's 40-minute 'Swinging '60s' race sees everyone's favourite sports and saloon cars from 1961-'69 pitted against each other.
Highlights include Mustangs, Sunbeam Tigers and TVR Tuscans from the 1960s, and the 'Future Classics' in series, which you'll find a selection of cars (whiched we'd say are already classics) ranging from Alfasuds to a Maserati Bora. It's a 40 minute race with a pit stop.
For those who like hot hatches and touring cars, the 'Tin Tops' series will entertain. Completing the 'CSCC' set of races are the 'Magnificent Sevens' where Caterhams are the dominant force, but Westfields, Lotus 7s and Locosts are also free to join in. There is also an 'Allcomers' race for those on Sunday.
Saturday's action starts with qualifying at 8.30am. Racing gets under way from 1.00pm, and will go on until around 6:15. Sunday gets under way with qualifying at 8.45am, with the first race at 1.00pm. Admission prices are on Saturday, £10 for Adults, £7.50 for OAPs, Paddock Transfer free and on Sunday, £15 for Adults, £10.00 for OAPs, £2-50 for Paddock Transfer, whilst accompanied children under 16 are admitted free on both days.
