Modern classics set for inaugural Bonhams MPH sale

Published 23 August 2019

More than 120 classics will be offered at the debut sale of Bonhams MPH at Bicester Heritage on Thursday 26 September.

Highlights include this 2004 Porsche 911 (996) Turbo 3.6 Cabriolet.  A desirable manual gearbox, low-mileage example (under 25,000 miles), in single ownership for the last 15 years. Equipped with sought-after hardtop it is expected to fetch £28,000-£35,000.

Also for sale is an eye-catching 1993 Ford Escort RS Cosworth. An original, low-mileage (38,000-mile) example, it has been owned by the current vendor for more than 20 years and has been recently recommissioned but sat in storage for the most of the past decade. It carries an estimate of £40,000-£50,000. There is also a 2016 Audi RS6 RFSi V8 Quattro Avant (estimate £40,000-£50,000).

But while the original plan was to have more modern classics making up the bulk of the sale, there are also bread and butter classics like a 1974 Triumph TR6 (est £12,000-£16,000) and a 1974 MGB GT Coupé (£5000-£7000).

Indeed, the 1917 Maxwell 25 3-Litre Tourer (£20,000-£30,000) is a powerful Edwardian touring car, ideal for VCC and VSCC events, that wouldn’t look out of place in a tradition sale at MPH parent company Bonhams.

Rob Hubbard, head of Bonhams MPH, said; “We are delighted that we have had such a positive reaction to our new venture and are able to offer a such an interesting selection of affordable and modern classics.

The debut Bonhams MPH Sale will take place from 1pm on Thursday 26 September, with viewing on Wednesday 25 September from 9am to 8pm and from 9am on the day of the sale.
