Aston Martin X-Pack for sale at the Silverstone Classic

A 1987 Aston Martin Vantage Volante X-Pack is heading to auction. One of 78 manuals, it’s the first time the car has been offered for sale on the open market in 28 years.

This X-Pack was hand-built in right-hand drive in October 1986 and was used by Aston Martin as a show car at the 1986 Earls Court motor show.

Power comes from a 432bhp 5.4-litre V8, which gives the car a top speed of 160mph and a sub-six -seconds 0-60 time.

The car was first registered in 1987 and was kept by the factory before being sold on to the first of its three owners. The last owner purchased the car in in 1990 and added it to his private collection.

In 2008, £9000 was spent on refreshing the paint. The car also recently received a major service along with a new clutch.

Finished in Chichester Blue with a Magnolia interior with blue piping and Burr Walnut veneers, the car has covered just under 32,000 miles.

It’s going under the hammer at the Silverstone Classic auction on 21-22 July and experts reckon it could fetch between £280,000-£320,000.

Simon Langsdale, classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions, said: 'When you have a classic Aston Martin convertible which is one of only 166 made, it’s a special thing. Then when you add in the X-Pack upgrades, taking the rarity to one of only 78 ever built, you have a truly unmissable opportunity.'
