GoldenEye Aston for sale
The 1965 Aston Martin DB5 from the Bond film GoldenEye is up for sale. The car will go under the hammer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed sale on 12 July. But it doesn't have stinger missiles behind the headlights.
Made in 1995, GoldenEye saw actor Piers Brosnan take the role of 007. And while the DB5’s race against a Ferrari F355 on the hills above Monaco might not have been a classic Bond car chase, it does end with a bottle of champagne appearing in the centre console.
When purchased by the current owner in 2001, the car became the most valuable piece of Bond memorabilia ever sold. It has been on display at both The National Motor Museum and the Bond in Motion exhibition at Covent Garden. It is expected to fetch between £1.2m and £1.6m at Bonhams’ Goodwood auction.
Sholto Gilbertson, Bonhams Motor Cars Department Director, commented: 'The DB5 is one of the most recognisable and desirable British classic cars in the world - it is also the ultimate Bond car.’
