World Speed Record Ferrari for sale
A Ferrari 550 Maranello ‘World Speed Record’ edition is heading to auction. The car, which is one of just ten right-hand drive models built, is part of the Silverstone Auctions’ Ferrari sale in May.
In total, 33 of the special editions were built to commemorate the world speed records set by a modified 550 Maranello in Ohio in 1998. The special edition was built to the exact specification of the record-breaking car.
The 550 clocked up 100 miles at an average speed of 190.2mph, drove for one hour at an average speed of 184mph, and covered 100kms at 188.9mph.
Power comes from a 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine. Specialf eatures include the Fiorano handling pack, leather-trimmed roll cage, suede-covered steering wheel, carbon bucket seats with Daytona stitching and race harnesses, as well as a ‘WSR' commemorative plaque. The exterior features Scuderia wing shields, sports exhaust and Corsa brake callipers.
The car has covered 42,786 miles from new, and is estimated to fetch between £140,000 and £170,000. To find out more about the car being auctioned on 18 May, visit silverstoneauctions.com.
