Auction results: 1968 Ferrari 365 GTC Coupé sells for £719,021 at auction
A 1968 Ferrari 365 GTC Coupé sold for €805,000 (£719,021) at auction over the weekend. The car – effectively a closed version of the 275GTS, it was designed and built by Pininfarina. Power came from a 4.4-litre 320bhp version of Ferrari’s V12. This car came with an original sales brochure and is one of 150 made.
It was the second strongest seller at Bonhams, 6 October Zoute sale, after a 2017 Mercedes-Mayback G650 Landaulet, which was auctioned for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and went for a world record €1,200,000 (£1.1m).
German marques performed strongly throughout the sale, with a 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster selling for €391,000 (£349,000). A one-owner 2000 BMW Z8 Roadster achieved well in excess of its €180,000-240,000 estimate, fetching €316,000 (£282,000). Also exceeding its estimate was the 1967 Porsche 911S 2.0-litre ‘sunroof’ Coupé (€150,000-200,000) selling for €212,750 (£190,000).
British marques were well represented, with two Jaguars making the list of the top ten cars sold. The 1993 Jaguar XJ220 was hammered away at €391,000, (£349,000) while the 1965 Jaguar E-type Series 1 4.2-Litre Roadster (€180,000-220,000) exceeded its estimate when it sold for €250,700 (£232,000).

Other highlights included 1967 Citroën DS21 Décapotable (€218,500/£195,155), a 1999 Aston Martin V8 Volante LWB Convertible (€207,000/£185,000), and a 1976 Porsche 911 Type 930 Turbo 3.0-Litre Coupé (€195,000/£174,170). In total, 83% of lots sold, and the auction achieved a total of €5,514,777 (£4,925,824).
