Auction Results: Mk IX Jaguar is top lot at Barons sale
A 1959 Jaguar MkIX was the star of Barons’ sale. The car, which was restored six years ago, fetched £44,000 at the Kempton Park auction.
Second best-seller was a 1969 Jaguar E-type S2 2+2 coupe, which made £40,150 at the Jaguar Heritage, Classic, and Sports Car sale on 16 September.
Among the non-Jaguars in the sale the 1948 Lanchester LD10 Drop Head by Abbott - one of just two examples ever built – sold for over top estimate, at £27,500, while a very attractive, one-owner 1985 Mercedes-Benz 280SL with just 33,000 miles on the clock achieved a strong £24,000.
