The temperature was 36C today as I checked out the 136 lots in Historics Summer Sale at Brooklands Museum, Weybridge.

Not a real one. A very sophisticated child’s car with a front mounted 110cc four-stroke engine and a three-speed dog clutch transmission. Adjustable pedals mean anyone can drive it from a 10-year-old child to a tall adult. Estimated at £10,000 to £14,000.

One of two in the sale, this one fitted with a 595cc FIAT 126 engine, period wide steel wheels and lots of Abarth addenda. Estimated at £10,000 to £14,000.

This very interesting car lost the stunning Raymond Lowey twin grille look of the 1953-54 models and is a ‘post’ saloon rather than a coupe. But it’s in nice shape, couldn’t find any rust, and under the hood sits a 1994 Ford V8 engine with 5-speed manual transmission. ‘No Reserve’, which means estimated at below £10,000.

Vies with the 1933 Rolls Royce 20/25 for best condition for an old car in the auction. £50,000 restoration. Absolutely stunning. You only have to open or close the doors to appreciate the quality. Column shift manual transmission. Apparently “drives like new”. Estimated at £21,000 to £27,000.

The 1969 RS/SS is the Camaro to have. 396c ‘big block’ engine. Four on the floor. Body coloured steel wheels, like a ‘Copo’ Camaro. Estimated at £55,000 to £65,000.

The other DB6 in the sale and actually the 10th Aston Martin DB6 built. This one is a conversion from automatic to manual and has a full length Webasto sunroof. Bare metal repaint in 1996, but still has its original black leather seats. Estimated at £230,000 to £260,000.

This is a high spec Giulia 1600 with the GT twin carb engine. Originally Alfa Romeo GB’s demonstrator, it’s a healthy runner but could do with quite a bit of attention to the bodywork. Estimated at £8,000 to £12,000.
