Early fibreglass bodied 308s with the 255HP carburettor V8 engine are the least common, most powerful and most sought after 308s. This RHD 71,000 mile example with a good history, but missing leather walleted service book was estimated at £70,000 to £90,000 before commission and went on to sell for £123,200 inclusive.
It wasn’t the only car in the sale to substantially outbid its estimate. An immaculate 1973 BMW 2002 Tii catalogued at £17,500 to £19,500 sold for £28,000 including commission and VAT.
