Peugeot 205 GTI Dimma heads to auction

Published 19 May 2016

A 1992 Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI modified by specialists Dimma UK will be heading to auction in June. The car, which carries an estimate of £10,000 to £12,000, will go under the hammer at Classic Car Auctions’ sale on 18 June.

Founded by British National Rally Champion Terry Pankhurst in 1986, Dimma UK became the exclusive importer for the 205 body kit from Dimma SA Belgium.

This example has just one former owner and has covered an unwarranted 66,000 miles. Finished in metallic purple, the glassfibre bodykit has deep side skirts, front spoiler, large rear wing and stainless steel exhaust.

A genuine Dimma conversion, the car is one of just over 250 built and has a special plaque with a reference number to confirm its status.

Guy Lees-Milne, general manager of Classic Car Auctions, said, ‘There is a resurgence of interest in 1980s hot hatches, with the 205 GTI leading the way. This example is certainly eye-catching but there is no denying its appeal with a strong market for proper Dimma cars.’

Dimma UK has just restarted production of a new build Dimma 205 Signature Series, which uses late-1980s and early-1990s Peugeot 205 GTIs with prices starting from £20,000.
