Low-mileage Mk2 Ford Escort for sale
A 1979 Ford Escort Ghia with just 4000 miles on the clock is up for sale. The immaculate Mk2 will go under the hammer at the Classic Car Auctions sale on 18 June.Offered with a fresh MoT, the low-mileage motor carries an estimate of between £9000 and £11,000.
It was supplied new to its first owner by Garrings of Newbury in 1979 to be used on trips to his holiday cottage. Spending most of his time in London, the owner barely drove his brand new Escort, keeping it safely in storage.
Several years later, while enquiring at a local garage about replacing a windscreen wiper, the workshop took such an interest in car and its exceptional condition for its age that they went on to buy it.
The car was then acquired by its current owner in 2013, still in immaculate, preserved condition, where it has been stored as part of a private collection since.
‘With this car, it takes very little imagination to believe you are sitting in a new Ford in a dealer's showroom in 1979,’ said Guy Lees-Milne, general manager of Classic Car Auction. “Fords of this era are big news in today's classic car market, and this must be the one of the lowest mileage examples left in existence.’
Offered with a fresh MoT and suitably recommissioned, this collectible classic Ford comes with a history file and the original dealer handbook folder.
