Historics Auction Preview: Brooklands 11th June 2016
Consignments already accepted for Historics Classic Car Auction at Brooklands Museum on 11th June include this 1959 MGA Twin Cam. The car was exported to the USA when new, then imported from the USA to Denmark in 2004 where it underwent a full nut and bolt restoration. Thick history file full of receipts. Estimate £28,000 to £34,000.
Topical at the moment is this 1955 Ford F100 pick-up because the guys are renovating a ’55 for Sue Martin of ASM Upholstery in current episodes of ‘Misfit Garage’ at 9.00pm on Mondays on Discovery. This particular example has the marginally more desirable 239ci V8, has been used as a daily driver in the UK for 10 years, has a current MoT and is offered at No Reserve.
Crayford convertibles are in the news this year, especially the 57 Wolseley Hornets convertibles that he firm built as prizes for Heinz in 1966. On offer here is a very rare 1972 Ford Cortina 2.0GLX and what’s more this 63,000-mile car is offered at No Reserve.
Venturi Atlantiques were developments of the rear-engined V6 Renault Alpine A610 and where the DeLorean took driving dynamics several steps backwards, the twin turbo Venturi took them a long way forward. This is a very rare 32,000-mile RHD example with an excellent history and is estimated at £30,000 to £40,000.

Lastly, for the time being, a post-war British gentleman’s sports tourer in the form of a 1950 Lea Francis 2.5 litre Westland. Always in the club register, the car has an impeccable history. Now freshly restored at great expense it is estimated at £35,000 to £42,000.
