Historics March 12th Brooklands Classic Car Auction Preview
A beautiful 1996 Aston Martin DB7 will be one of the stars of Historics Classic Car Auction at Brooklands Museum on Saturday 12th March.
After Ford cancelled the original Jaguar XJ41/XJ42 ‘F-Type’ project, the prototype was re-styled by Ian Callum as an Aston Martin to sit on a modified Jaguar XJS platform. Its supercharged Jaguar-based straight-six 3.2 litre engine developed 340HP and 489Nm torque.
Though a less desirable 4-speed automatic, M555 AML has only covered 3,300 miles so is eminently collectable and estimated at £45,000 - £55,000.
It joins a later 1998 DB7 Volante estimated at £22,000 - £30,000 and at least 140 other classics in the sale.
These already include at the top of the list publisher Felix Dennis’s 59,000 mile 1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II DHC estimated at £340,000 - £370,000.

There is something for everyone in the sale, from three 1930s London taxis, the usual Austin Healeys, Jaguar XKs, Alfa Romeos, Porsches, Mercedes, LandRovers, Ferraris, Mustangs, MGs.

A now super-rare custard yellow 1995 Volvo 850 T-5R, estimated at £4,000 - £8,000.

A 1966 C2 Corvette Stingray roadster with the 350 block estimated at £28,000 - £34,000.

Among the oddballs are a 1992 Renault Avantime 2.0TD and a 1990 Buick Riviera, both offered at no reserve.

A 119k mile 1990H Mercedes Benz 190E 2.6 offered at no reserve could be a worthwhile cheapie.
