Russ Swift’s old Montego to go under the hammer

Published 07 January 2016

An Austin Montego that was once owned by stunt driver Russ Swift is going under the hammer at Anglia Car Auctions later this month.

The Cashmere gold over Tempest grey 1988 Montego has an MoT until August and with 17,000 miles on the clock looks like it hasn’t seen a lot of action (no, it’s not the one that featured in the advert).

Coming from a private collection, it has two leather Montego key fobs (still in their bags), a number of previous MOT certificates, owner’s handbook pack, and a Haynes manual.

It comes with a number of rare (and hard to get hold of) MG Montego Driving Display team documents featuring Russ Swift himself. There is also a DVD of Russ Swift's life in motorsport and with the MG Montego team.

Obviously, it’s a great opportunity for any Austin Rover collector and we’re still waiting to find out how much it’s expected to fetch at ACA’s sale on Saturday, 23 January.
