Volkswagen Golf GTI Campaign heads to auction
This 1983 Volkswagen Golf GTI Campaign model could sell for between £4500 and £6000 when it goes under the hammer later this month. The car, which is for sale at Barons Autumn Classic on 27 October, comes with 11 months’ MoT.
It has been owned by the seller for two years and in that time has covered 5000 miles, taking the current mileage to 88,591. According to the vendor, the car drives well and the bodywork is in good condition.
If you’re thinking the guide price seems a little on the cheap side, that’s probably because this car was registered as a Category C insurance write off in 2004 after it sustained damage to the bonnet, wing, and bumper.
It’s not a standard Campaign, either, and has been lowered with aftermarket shocks and springs. It’s also had the rear drums swapped for a discs and calipers. That said, the car still has its original build sticker in the boot, which identifies it as a the limited-edition model, and still wears its Pirelli P-slot alloys.
If you can live with the history, this might just be the most affordable Campaign out there.
