Spotted at auction: 1986 Talbot Samba Cabriolet
This eye-catching rust-free Talbot Samba Cabriolet for sale at auction could make a great first classic.
It’s going under the hammer at Richard Edmonds auction on 30 May and carries an estimate of £2800 to £3500.
That might sound like a lot, but Sambas are now an endangered species. Despite more than 270,000 being sold in the UK, there are only about 114 left.
The cabriolet was designed and built by Pininfarina and fitted with the 1360cc engine. More than 13,000 were built, but few survive.

This one’s had plenty of money spent on it over there years. It’s reportedly sound – both underneath and on top. Although the seller reports the speedometer isn’t working.
It’s sold with a V5C and current MoT, which runs out in August. It also comes with a handbook, service book and some history.
