1971 Porsche 911T Resto Project up for Auction Saturday 6th June
This original 1971 Porsche 911T represents a rare opportunity for a potentially lucrative restoration. It's up for auction at Historics, Brooklands on Saturday 6th June.
The story behind the car is that in March 2014, Porsche Centres received an challenge from Porsche GB to source an original air-cooled 911, strip it, restore it and present it, fully restored, at the Classic Car Show at the NEC last November to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the production of the 911.
Porsche Centre Brooklands eventually found and bought two cars: a 911 Carrera Targa and this 911T. Eventually the Targa received the full treatment, and the T was put in store.
Its overall condition reflects its lack of use. Only two owners are recorded over the past 28 years, with the last valid tax disc 1988. The panels, in their original Viper Green, are as they were on the car when delivered to the Porsche Centre, and will need repair or replacement. But the interior is complete and in reasonably good condition.
The matching numbers engine rotates and shows good oil pressure but does not fire because it is missing its distributor. The car requires a full, ground up restoration 'Car SOS' style, but the important question to ask is, how often do opportunities like this come along? A complete and original 911T, ready for restoration and certainly worth it.
