Sam Pack collection fetches £7.4m at classic car auction
A 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra from the Sam Pack collection sold for $1,292,500 (£824,988) at the weekend.
It was just one of 131 lots from the collection that went under the hammer at RM Auctions in Dallas, Texas. With all the entries sold, the collection generated $11,543,400 (£7,367,925).
As well as the Cobra, a delivery-mileage 2006 Ford GT, one of 60 Fords that crossed the podium, sold for $418,000 (£266,902).
Another Ford that smashed their pre-sale estimates was a supercharged 1957 Ford Thunderbird 'F-Code', which passed onto its fourth owner for $247,500 (£158,044.02).
Built up over more than a decade by American businessman Sam Pack, the collection included a range of Fifties and Sixties icons, concept cars, customs and modern classics.
The 131-lot sale on Saturday, 15 November, represented just a small part of the collection allowing him to downsize to what he said was a more manageable level.
