An ex-Steve McQueen 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 made history on Saturday when it sold for $10,175,000 (£6,081,516).
Supplied new to Hollywood icon on the set of Bullitt, the 275 GTB/4 was the subject of spirited bidding from the room and on the phone.
But, believe it or not, it wasn’t the most expensive car sold at RM’s Monterey sale – that honour went to a 1964 Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale, one of just three built.
Dubbed the ’65 GTO, bidding for the rare Speciale started at $15m (£8.96m) and finished at $26.4m (£15.8m).
In total, six Ferraris led a string of 21 individual million-dollar-plus sales on Saturday sale.
