Anglia Car Auctions' sale to include Jaguar SS
A 1937 SS Jaguar 2.5-litre concours-winning saloon is expected to fetch up to £78,000 when it goes under the hammer at Anglia Car Auctions this weekend.
The car, which was delivered new to Australia before being repatriated to the UK in 2007, is one of more than 200 vehicles from seven decades on offer at the auction in King’s Lynn on Saturday, 23 August.
Oldest car at the auction is a 1934 Austin 10/4 Colwyn Drophead Coupe that is in need of restoration (although it has recently had a new exhaust system). Sold as a non-starter, it’s estimated to fetch between £4640 and £5350.
If you are after restoration project, a 1975 BMW 2002 Turbo with matching numbers may also tempt you. Despite needing a full restoration, the car runs and the interior is in top nick. Offered with no reserve, expect fireworks for this desirable autobahn stormer.
There’s a huge range of cars in the packed catalogue, including 28 Mercedes, 19 Jaguars, 15 Rovers, 13 Morris, 12 Fords, 11 Austins, ten Porsches, eight Minis, six Alfa Romeos, plus seven American cars.
Although the sale doesn’t start until 1pm it’s standing room only at ACA these days so get there when the doors open at 10am, grab a bacon sandwich and a tea and have a nose round the stock. If you can’t wait until then, the full catalogue can be viewed at www.angliacarauctions.co.uk.
