Preview: Historics classic car auction, Brooklands, 1 June
A Jaguar E-type Series 1 is going to up for sale at Historics' auction at Brooklands on 1 June, and so confident is the seller in the quality of its restoration, it's being offered with a 12-month unconditional guarantee.
The left-hand drive example, which is one of the last S1s to leave the Browns Lane, Coventry factory carries a top-end estimate of £110,000-130,000. Historics says that the car 'is better today than when it was built', and it has undergone a two-year, nut and bolt restoration in California in 2010.
During restoration, attention to enhancing still further the dynamics of the car was lavished in numerous areas including the straight-six, twin-cam XK 4.2-litre engine, the gearbox – fully rebuilt with steel synchromesh rings - braking and suspension. In common with all aspects of the car, attention to detail and quality are said to be of the highest order.
Viewing of this, and all 100+ consigned cars, 80+ classic motorcycles and automobilia is at Historics at Brooklands, near Weybridge, Surrey on Friday 31 May from 10.00am with the auction on the following day, Saturday 1 June
