Jaguar strike ended
21 February 1959
The 150 body shop workers at the Coventry factory of Jaguar Cars Ltd., who had been on strike since Wednesday, agreed to return to work yesterday so that negotiations with the management can take place.
The dispute, which threatened the firm's entire production and the employment of 4,000 men, was over wages for stand-in workers, who move about on a number of jobs because of absenteeism. About 700 employees, who were laid off on Thursday because of the shortage of bodies, were also back at work yesterday.
