BMC strikers return

10 February 1959

The 1,600 men who went on strike three days last week at the Birmingham car factory of Nuffield Metal Products returned to work yesterday and supplies were resumed to other factories in the British Motor Corporation group.

At the Austin factory at Longbridge, where the production of engines for Morris cars had been affected by the strike, an official said that it had not been necessary to lay-off any workers.

The Morris Minor line at the Morris factory at Cowley, Oxford, was idle, but the 150 on the line will resume work today.
