Delightful..except for the aircon

I bought this car in January as we needed to go back to a 4x4: we live down a country lane in Yorkshire and as soon as the snow fell properly we were virtually marooned. It replaced an 05 Mondeo Diesel Estate which had been brilliant for 58,000 miles, except being heavy on brakes and front tyres.

In the months since we bought the Octavia, we've been delighted with it...fast, comfortable, roomy and very economical. The only drawback, and and a big one, was that the climate control failed two months out of warranty. On Honest John's advice we had it repaired at an independent garage with a non-Skoda compressor. As a result Skoda refused to make any goodwill payment. This annoyed me as it's the failure of the original part which was at the heart of the matter, not how it was repaired.
