Solid Compact SUV with several safety Features

Still early days but after about 350 miles, the new SUV model from Seat is proving a decent buy. FR is the cheapest model if you want a six speed manual and the 115 bhp 1 litre petrol engine. Lots of safety features like emergency braking triggered by a sensor in the front grille, tiredness detector, 5 star NCAP rating and so on.

MPG is quick to improve as the engine quickly warms up and mid 40s is fairly easy and quick to achieve. The infotainment system provides reversing image and colour coding for objects spotted, and the Sat Nav is also summarised on a mini display between the rev counter and speedo, which is a great bonus. DAB radio is very good and easy to program favourites.

The three pot engine is more rorty in low gears as you accelerate but the cabin is well insulated from engine noise generally and a relaxed cruiser in fifth or sixth gear. Clutch and gear change is light and fluid and steering is perhaps even over assisted. Stiffer suspension proves good for ride on all but the worst roads but may not suit all drivers.

Big discounts and a keen PCP scheme are a bonus and insurance very similar to an older Seat Ibiza 1.4 petrol. TSI well tried and tested and with MPG likely to improve as the car is run in, it is looking a sound purchase for its wealth of safety and comfort features.
