A dream come true

Like most people, owning the iconic w124 is a dream long cherished. Pity when one sees some in bad shape, the dream momentarily dies. Until last year when my other car was a write-off. It was an excuse to get this one. I found one with 192 000kms, owned by a wife of a doctor who barely drove it. Immediate problem I encountered was a automatic gearbox which died 2 months later. But the overall condition of the car made it worth every rand (South Africa) spent worth it. It is a white one with beige interior, just the way I always wanted it. It drives awesome! Since I am a migrant worker, I have decided to use it for my weekly commute between Gauteng and KZN a distance of almost 400kms each way. It has been eating those kms beautifully. I even switch off the radio just to hear everything. It is a very special place to be in. Winter just started, but the heater in the car is equivalent to sitting next to coal stove, toasty. I am damaged for life. These new cars seem nothing in comparison to this 26 year old car. And I drive a 2015 c-class wagon! We are truly happy. There is ATF leak that bothers me. I haven't had time to really look at it, meanwhile I top-up oil whenever needed. Life is short, buy a car you love, maybe it may add to your quality of life - it helps if you are not scared of getting your hands dirty.
