Lancia Montecarlo Spyder
Pure Pininfarina design, wonderfully unique and pleasure to drive.
I smile every time I get behind the wheel and start the engine. The Lampredi, twin cam, 2 litre engine sounds awesome and pulls effortlessly through the 5 speed box. Torque and willingness to rev, makes it a joy in heavy traffic, on motorways or b-roads. The Spyder has unique roof system which is rather like a cross between a Targa, and MGB style canvass opening, but of course being designed and built at Pininfarina's own workshop it's so much better. The brakes on the series two are good, with disks all round, the steering is a little heavy when parking. The interior is of its time with much plastic and vinyl, but it looks great. All Lancia's of this age suffer from the dreaded rust, but with care it can be kept eliminated. Lastly, don't worry to much about the sound system, it provide its own orchestral delights from engine mounted behind you!
