Beats Toyota at their own game

Completed 9,000 kms in Spain since Oct. 2017, mainly on cross-country motorway round trips(previously owned Toyota Auris HSDs). DCT gearbox a vast improvement on the Toyota CVT, particularly in the mountain sections of the motorways - quiet and more economical. (brim-to-brim records showing 56.6 mpg to date - hoping this will improve with the summer weather)
This is a 2018 MY, and includes the integrated 12v battery, with "battery reset" function to overcome the usual hybrid reduced-size 12v battery problems (are you listening Toyota?).
Spacesaver spare wheel in Spain - "repair" kit in UK (don't ask why?)
Lane-keeping Assist a useful safety addition - strange at first to get the steering "nudges" but soon becomes natural
Seven years warranty (only three years for Toyota in Spain)
Ride good (vast improvement over an early Kia cee_d)
Very comprehensive instrumentation - maybe too much?
The map update policy for the navigation system (this is the medium trim - 2 in UK/Drive in Spain) sounds good on paper but in practice falls far short. One free update per year - issued in Spring, but loaded by dealer only (approx. £25 labour charge!!). However if you're on yearly servicing, you could find maps are up to 18 months out of date, unless you make a special visit when the update is issued. The modern equivalent Garmin/TomTom GPS would be receiving 3 or 4 updates a year - downloadable for free (map update for 2018 not yet issued (May 2018) - as with Garmin GPSs, map supplier HERE has problems)
