Perfect choice for our needs

This was our third Honda, and a replacement for out ageing 2003 Civic 1.6. We had a list of requirements, sunroof, leather interior, 5 doors, and tow-bar. When the new Civic came out it seemed the perfect answer but the 1.5 could not take a tow-bar.

Sitting next to one in the showroom was a HR-V, right size engine, leather option, and a sunroof. Sorted!

Jumping from an 03 Civic to a 67 HR-V was to be honest a huge jump in tech, which took a week or so to adjust to, and lots of reading the manual.

It is a pleasure to drive, the extra height makes getting in and out much easier for these tired legs. The all round visibility is very good and despite the small rear window rear viewing is very good.

The hugely versatile interior has amazing uses, the boot is massive, and the magic seats are a brilliant addition.

Driving around in the lower rev range gives a quite smooth ride with amazing mpg of 50 - 60, dropping a gear or two and going above the 3500 revs point brings out the hidden power and the car has a really good turn of speed if and when you need it.

Many of the tech items were very new to me so there was no comparing to do, and as such I adapted to the systems easily. The safety systems work really well, city brake, lane departure, smart limiter all easy to use and adapt to.

Towing with the HR-V is effortless, with very little strain to the car, the rear camera makes the hitching up really easy, and even on a long tow the car still returns around 40 mpg.

Its been ours now for three years, and we have just replaced our tyres after 26300 miles, to the Michelin Cross Climate+, it will be interesting to see if there is any change in mpg, but the drive is now quieter (although I didn't find it noisy) and has a lot more grip if you are a bit rough with it.

Would I change this car? only for another one, the one shame is that the Sport version comes without a sunroof, if it had we might well have replaced it for one.
