The Jaguar dispute continues.
5 January 1972
At the Austin-Morris plant at Longbridge, production of Minis was again at a standstill yesterday, with 2,000 car assembly workers and another 1,000 engine assemblers laid off because of a strike by 200 machinists.
The strikers met yesterday and accepted a peace formula, recommended by shop stewards as a means of settling their dispute over manning scales. They will return to work today and the rest of the labour force will be recalled. The stoppage has cost lost output of 550 cars worth about £500,000.
