Disappointing

I traded in a Mark 2 to buy the Roadster and wish I hadn't.
Yeah OK the Mark 3 is lighter and steers more accurately, but any ground the Mark 2 loses in the twisties, is going to be made up for when the road straightens and the Mark 2 blasts away.
The Mark 2 also has a good size boot.
I found mine burned a lot of oil, and when I researched this, I found it to be a common problem with early versions which can be a sign that the top end is on the way out.
Apparently this was discreetly sorted by 2003.
Where the car does score highly is fuel economy.
I was averaging 38mpg day to day, which shot up to 45mpg on a long run driven sensibly.
My worries over the excessive oil consumption finally got the better of me and I got rid.
If you are in the market for a two seater sportster and like Toyota's, go for the Mark 2.
It does most things just as well as the Roadster, costs much less, and it has a proper boot.
