THE GUARDIAN
DISPUTES

Three thousand workers , are on strike at another Scottish vehicle works, the British Leyland factory at Bathgate. The management has refused to improve on an offer of an extra £2 a week, which has been rejected by the workers.

On Merseyside about 3,000 workers are idle at two factories making Triumph cars, where 900 men stopped work last Thursday. They are protesting about the dismissal of two workers dismissed for refusing to be moved on to different work. Production of the company's Toledo car , assembled completely on Merseyside , is expected to stop today, and the dispute is likely to affect the Triumph- factory at Coventry, which is supplied with components from the Liverpool factories.

The strikers are due to meet today.
