THE GUARDIAN
The 325 production workers laid off at the Triumph Woodend plant at Speke, Liverpool, are not expected to be back before Tuesday, exactly a week after they were sent home. They are employed in the paint , trim, and body shop where work is held up on car bodies for the TR6 and 1500 saloon models. The men were laid off originally because of the strike of machine repairers at the Triumph plant in Coventry which has been called off.
The 120 engine assemblers on strike at the Austin-Morris factory in Longbridge, Birmingham, voted yesterday to stay out for another week in support of their claim for higher piece work rates.
