Standard-Triumph go-slow

9 November 1961

1,200 CAR WORKERS GO SLOW
FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
LIVERPOOL, Nov. 8

The 1,200 men and women employed at the Standard-Triumph works at Speke, Liverpool. began a go-slow move today.

Shop stewards who called for it allege that the management has flatly rejected a demand submitted last May for a pay increase of between 6d. and 8d. an hour. The stewards are to meet again later this week.

The factory produces bodies for the new TR4 sports car and the Triumph Herald, turning out about 30 of them a day. The stewards claim that slowing up will reduce output by about one-third.
