ROVER CAR MEN STRIKE
Fifty-one internal transport workers at the Rover company's car factory at Solihull, near Birmingham. went on unofficial strike over a wage claim yesterday. A management spokesman said: "Unless they return to work very shortly there will be a complete stoppage of production with several thousand workers having to be laid off."
On this day, BMC announced it was not going to take a stake in the German firm of Borgward.
